Q. How can I can I find out if my doctors participate in United Health?
A. The best way is to call your doctor directly. If you are not able to
contact your doctor, you can go to the United Healthcare web site. www.uhc.com
Once you enter the site, click on Find a Doctor and follow the instructions.
When asked for your plan enter: United Healthcare option PPO.
Q. Will my plan change?
A. No, your co-share, your co-pays, and the services that you receive are
all covered by the contract. They will only change if you ratify a contract
that has changes to your health care plan.
Q. Where can I get information on my plan?
A. Your plan is listed in Appendix C of the contract.
Q. Will I be able to continue to purchase Blue Cross?
A. No.
Q. Must I change doctors if my doctor does not accept United?
A. If your doctor doesnt accept United, you must notify the Providence
Teachers Union. We are gathering information to verify the United Provider
Network. Once we have sufficient data, we will address continuation of coverage
for those non-participating physicians, labs, etc. with the City administration.
Q. Can I make office visits or appointments to Physicians that do not
participate in the United Healthcare network?
A. Yes, you will have to pay the out of network amount. The amount
for some visits is $10.00 plus 20% of the office visit. For all types of
out of network costs see Appendix C of the PTU contract.
Q. Is our plan like other United plans?
A. No, your plan is in the contract. It is not a United plan. United
is only responsible for the administrative management of the Citys
healthcare plans.
Q. Does our health coverage have dollar amount limits for illnesses
or medical conditions?
A. No, unless otherwise stated in Appendix C of the PTU contract.
Q. Will I need to get pre-authorization for medical lab tests,
X-rays, surgeries etc.?
A. No, unless otherwise stated in Appendix C of the PTU contract.
