On August 21, 2014, Veazie Street Elementary School celebrated their annual “Meet the Teacher” event. This gathering of students, families, and teachers continued to be a much anticipated and well attended event.

Teachers began planning for “Meet the Teacher" at the end of school in June and continued during the summer months. Teachers volunteered to plan and implement all aspects of the evening from contacting families and community agencies, to physically setting up and breaking down the school yard before and after the students and families arrived. Students enjoyed ice cream, games, and crafts. The cornerstone of the event was an opportunity for families to get to know their new teacher. Additionally, teachers were pleased to distribute over 225 backpacks to students of Veazie Street filled with supplies to start the year off! Families were also treated to demonstrations provided by the Providence Fire Department and the Providence Police Department’s Mounted Command.
