PROVIDENCE TEACHERS RESPOND TO GOVERNOR’S AND MAYOR’S INAUGURAL REMARKS ON EDUCATION

PTU President Encouraged by State, Local Leaders’ Focus on Education

            The Providence teachers are greatly encouraged by this week’s inaugural addresses of both Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline and Governor Donald L. Carcieri. Responding to the inaugural addresses this week, Providence Teachers Union President Steven F. Smith, noted “Hearing that both are focused on education, and the total commitment that it requires, I look forward to working with them on improving education. We continue to emphasize the importance of collaboration, and welcome what seems to be a very real opportunity to work together as partners.”
